Dr. Mallick Faqrul Islam bpm, ppm
Rector (Additional Inspector General)

Dr. Mallick Faqrul Islam, bpm, ppm, Additional Inspector General (Addl. IG) of Bangladesh Police, was born and raised in a renowned family in Bagerhat District. He joined Bangladesh Police in 1991 as an Assistant Superintendent of Police in the 12th Special BCS, securing 3rd position in the Bangladesh Public Service Commission merit list. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Law. Later on, he completed Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and obtained his Ph.D. on “Crime Prevention and Social Changes: Bangladesh Perspective.”

In his professional endeavor, he served in various capacities and responsibilities of Bangladesh Police. He worked as Superintendent of Police at Bhola, Kishoreganj, Sylhet and Feni districts; as Deputy Police Commissioner at Dhaka Metropolitan Police; and as AIG (Training) at Police Headquarters. Mr. Islam also served Rapid Action Battalion, the elite force, as the Commanding Officer of RAB-3. As Deputy Inspector General (DIG), he served at Special Branch (SB) and led Railway Police, Highway Police and Tourist Police. As Additional IGP, he also led Highway Police with utmost professionalism and competence. Mr. Islam also left his mark in the international arena by being awarded UN Medal for his service as FPU Commandant in the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in East Timur – UNMIT.

In his distinguished professional career, he has been adorned with the awards of Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM) and President’s Police Medal (PPM), the highest awards of Bangladesh Police, in recognition of his gallantry and exceptional services in controlling crime. He also achieved IGP’s Exemplary Good Services Badge twice in recognition of his high efficacy and professional standards.

Dr. Mallick Faqrul Islam is the Vice President of the International Association of Police Academies (INTERPA), a worldwide association for cooperation in police training among police academies or equivalent institutions. He is a member of The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), the world’s largest and most influential professional association for police leaders committed to advancing the safety of communities worldwide. He is also a member of the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST), an association of managers and leaders in the field of criminal justice standards and training.

Dr. Mallick Faqrul Islam is the President of Bangladesh Police Billiards and Snooker Club. He is life time member of Gulshan Shooting Club, Dhaka Rifle Club, Army Golf Club and Officers’ Club Dhaka. He is also life time member of Greater Khulna Samity.

His rich base of experience and knowledge has been enhanced with various professional training courses both home and abroad, including in the India, United States, Malaysia, Nepal, Saudi Arabia and South Africa. Mr. Islam is an avid traveler and takes keen interest in reading. He performed holy Hajj and Omrah Hajj several times.

In his personal life, he is married and blessed with a son and a daughter. His daughter Barrister Fahima Mallick Monmi has completed Bar at Law recently, and his son Mallick Faize Islam Mehan has already graduated in attaining his LLB (Honours) degree.
